george foreman grill removable

Cleaning removable plates, George Foreman?
I have a covered grill and tried to use my washing machine and after removing the plates There is a white residue all over the place in them. This seems to happen only with Teflon. Old that had happened. I guess it's the soap from sticking to Teflon, but I tried to soak in water for one night and it did no good. What is this and how can I get my plates?
