If you have a kitchen, you probably have a collection of spices. But what spices you use your full potential? Here are five simple tips that you will help ensure you get the most of their ingredients.

1. Do not use spices or herbs that are too old.

Thus How old is that too old? In general, whole spices will keep one to two years. More than that, and oil and dissipates have lost much of its flavor.

Essential oils evaporate very quickly dried herbs and ground spices. Take your ground spices away after 6 months and costs. Most of spices do not spoil, but will lose its flavor over time. It will not hurt to add to your food, but will do nothing to impact the flavor.

2. Store your spices properly.

Spices and herbs should be stored in airtight containers away from heat and sun. Cool, dry and dark are the best. Glass jars are great food and metal boxes, and function. Never store spices in a warm place like the back of the stove. Heat quickly ruin the flavor.

3. Do not sprinkle spices directly from the bottle in a pan.

You should never find for spices right from their containers in a boiling pot. There are two good reasons. Number one is too easy to fall and download. Number two: when 're in a pan, the steam enters the jar of spices and causes of spices to get wet and stick. It is best to measure the spices on hand, or a small bowl, then add to pot.

4. Grind your own spices as possible.

Freshly ground are the antipodes of the pre-ground, and this is the easiest way to make a big difference in your kitchen. It is also much more fun than simply soaking in a jar with a spoon. There are a variety of products on the market that easily grind small quantities of spices at home. A mortar and pestle works with many spices, or you can use a small electric coffee grinder hand.

5. Enjoy your spices!

The most important rule of all, enjoy your spices. Experiment. Try new flavors and new combinations. Spices used to be very rare and valuable, but there's more. Thus, it is stored until it is dry - crush, grind, roast and bring aromas and flavors of world cuisine.
